Eastern Wake EMS Cadet Program was started in July 2005. The purpose of the program is to provide cadets with hands-on emergency medical training, work experience at the EMS stations, training in EMS skills and volunteerism for the community.
Cadets are required to volunteer a minimum of 24 hours per month with the department. This may be done in a variety of areas such as riding on the ambulance, helping at fundraisers and public education events. District Chiefs supervise the Cadets when they are on-duty.
The Cadet Program is a tremendous asset to Eastern Wake EMS. It is a great way to gain knowledge about Eastern Wake EMS, learn the basic skills of EMT’s and Paramedic’s and get support, encouragement and insight in pursuing a career in the EMS service.
Current requirements to be eligible for the Cadet Program are:
- Membership is open to male and female youth, age 15 – 18 years of age.
